Understanding eating disorders – a destructive survival strategy

Anorexia nervosa and Bulimia nervosa top the list of eating disorders of medical importance. Anorexic people tend to skip meals, have an intense compulsion for thinness and food, cultivate unhealthy and highly strict diets, and develop unusual eating behaviors. People suffering from Bulimia have the tendency of overeating, or binging, and start purging afterward either through vomiting or the use of laxatives. An individual might be afflicted with both disorders at the same time; they can also have body dysmorphia, which is a condition in which an extremely skinny person perceive their selves as overweight. Both disorders occur mostly in young women, and there is no known cure, although they can be treated and full recovery is achievable in some cases.

Coming to terms with eating disorders – A debilitating survival mechanism

People who have eating disorders usually try to use their food as a means of managing emotional issues. Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, orthorexia, and compulsive overeating can cause physical and psychological damage and may result in death.

Treating Eating Disorders-Developing healthy eating habits

Our methods of treatment are non-judgmental, confidential, and discreet. We place much emphasis on establishing the cause of eating disorders so that our clients can regain a healthy and normal life. We don’t only treat the symptoms; we treat the body, soul, and mind.
We assess the client physically and psychologically to determine the origin of the condition, conducting a series of advanced laboratory tests to check for any physical, biochemical, and neurochemical issues. This is necessary as we understand that an unbalanced neurochemistry can disrupt the recovery process. We also assess emotional, social, childhood, and genetic factors that could cause the problem.

Our treatment program employs four methods which are psychology, spiritual counseling, psychotherapy, and complementary treatments.
Our clients receive treatment on an individual basis, no group treatment whatsoever. The clinical team consisting of doctors, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, nutritionists, and psychotherapists.
